Chlorinated rubber is a chlorinated polymer produced by the reaction of natural rubber and chlorine. The industrial product is a white or light yellow powder, non-toxic and odorless, with a chlorine content of 65% ± 2 and an average relative molecular weight of 5000-20000. It is easily soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, esters, petroleum solvents and ketones (acetone (Except) and other organic solvents, it can be miscible with various synthetic resins such as alkyd resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, polyurethane, etc., and is insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbon alcohols and water.
Chlorinated rubber is one of the chlorinated polymers obtained by chlorination modification of natural rubber or synthetic rubber. Because of its excellent film-forming properties, adhesion, corrosion resistance, flame retardancy and insulation, it can be widely used in the manufacture of adhesives, ship paint, container paint, chemical anti-corrosion paint, road marking paint, fire retardant paint, construction Coatings and printing inks are one of the promising chlorine-based fine chemical products. Additionally, chlorinated rubber does not burn due to its high chlorine content. Therefore it is a valuable raw material for manufacturing fire-proof and anti-corrosion paints.
